Kolkata: The 77th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was celebrated with enthusiasm in Ward 66 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation under the leadership of Mohammad Intezar. The programme was attended by West Bengal Government Minister Umesh Rai as the chief guest, who inaugurated the celebrations by cutting a cake.
As part of the programme, clothing was distributed among hundreds of people from underprivileged sections of society. Former Councillor Santosh Pathak attended the event as the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, organiser Mohammad Intezar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi belongs to everyone and enjoys support and faith among people across different castes and communities. He also said that members of the minority community have faith in Modi and stand with him, while adding that people are aware of the ground realities despite attempts by some individuals to create confusion.
Several prominent personalities attended the programme, including social workers Rajan Siddiqui and Vishal Khatik, along with BJP State Executive Committee members Deepak Singh, Parmeshwar Singh and Lalan Singh. Michael and Anjum were also among those who played an important role in organising the event successfully.
The organisers said the programme reflected their message of social participation and community engagement. It may be noted that the area was earlier part of Ward 62 and was subsequently included in Ward 66 following the delimitation process.
