Two-Day National-Level IPR Yatra Program Concludes at National Institute of Technology Durgapur

A two-day national-level IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) Yatra program was successfully conducted at National Institute of Technology Durgapur. The event was organized and managed by the Branch MSME-DFO, Durgapur, under the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises.

The program was inaugurated by Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar. The exhibition segment was formally inaugurated by Shri P.K. Das, Director of MSME-DFO Kolkata, along with Prof. S.S. Ray of NIT Durgapur. The entire event was coordinated by Tapas Ray, Assistant Director, Branch MSME-DFO, Durgapur.

Approximately 400 entrepreneurs from across the country participated in the program. The seminar sessions included detailed training on Trade Marks, Geographical Indications (GI), Copyrights, and Patents. More than 100 students from Dr. B. C. Roy College of Pharmacy, Asansol Engineering College, and NIT Durgapur attended the seminar.

Dr. Bidhan Das, Assistant Director of the Indian Institute of Packaging, and Dr. Shantanu Panda from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences delivered insightful addresses focusing on the importance of IPR for startups.

In a dedicated IPR session, Dr. Mahuya Hom Chowdhury, Nodal Officer of the West Bengal State Council of Science and Technology, elaborated on various aspects of intellectual property rights. Dr. Bholanath Mondal, Assistant Professor at Visva-Bharati University, also provided an in-depth discussion on IPR-related issues.

Among the distinguished guests was Dr. Hriday Haldar, Chairman of the Anandamoyee Group, who attended as a successful entrepreneur. At the end of the first day’s seminar, the vote of thanks was delivered by Bipul De, Assistant Director, MSME-DFO Kolkata.

More than a hundred SC and ST entrepreneurs were present, accompanied by award-winning social worker Tapas Kumar De. Dr. Sandip Chatterjee from Bankura Sammilani Medical College spoke on innovation and invention, highlighting their relevance for emerging enterprises.

B.R. Pal, Manager of the National SC-ST Hub, provided detailed information about the various schemes and benefits offered by the Central Government for SC and ST entrepreneurs.

The two-day IPR Yatra program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Assistant Director Achintya Bhattacharya, MSME-DFO Kolkata, marking the successful completion of the event.
