In an era marked by the silent disappearance of cultures, voices, and vulnerable lives, a new institution named TORI has emerged with a powerful vision—to act as a modern-day Ark for those at risk of being lost forever.
Drawing inspiration from the ancient story of Noah’s Ark, TORI positions itself as a sanctuary in response to today’s crises: endangered languages silenced by violence, fading cultural legacies such as Bengal’s Kobir Lorai, survivors of domestic violence suffering in silence, and men unable to express their emotional pain. The organisation takes its name from the Bengali phrase “যে বা যারা বা যা কিছু বিপন্ন”—meaning that which is endangered—symbolising its commitment to protection and renewal.
Born from Collaboration
TORI was formed through the coming together of two organisations—Saraswati Bhandar and Urjaa—which aligned their strengths to create a unified platform dedicated to safeguarding vulnerable lives, traditions, and ecosystems.
A Mission to Protect What the World Risks Losing
At its core, TORI’s mission is to preserve and nurture what stands on the brink of extinction. Whether endangered communities, disappearing traditions, threatened ways of life, or silenced voices, TORI aims to provide shelter, support, and pathways to long-term prosperity.
Four Pillars of Action
The organisation operates through four foundational pillars. Sekor (The Root) focuses on preserving and revitalising cultural heritage at risk. Safe Space creates sanctuaries for individuals suffering in silence, including survivors of domestic violence and men struggling with unspoken trauma. Protection ensures emergency response for all vulnerable beings—from animals in distress to communities facing sudden crises. Foundation works toward sustainable futures through education, advocacy, and empowerment.
NGO.Next: A New Model of Impact
What sets TORI apart is its innovative approach known as NGO.Next. Rather than duplicating existing efforts, TORI partners with aligned grassroots organisations, using an AI-powered technology platform to enable transparency, collaboration, and scale. This model amplifies impact while allowing human-centered care to remain at the forefront.
As TORI defines its philosophy, “Technology Scales. Humans Heal.” With 90 percent AI-driven systems and 100 percent human empathy, the organisation aims to redefine how social protection and preservation are achieved in the modern world.
