Kolkata,19 September 2026: The 2nd Film Frenzy Film Festival 2026 is set to bring an exciting celebration of independent cinema to Kolkata, creating a vibrant “Fantasy to Frame” platform where stories break boundaries, creativity finds its voice and independent filmmakers come together to celebrate the art of filmmaking.
Following the encouraging response to its inaugural edition in 2025, Season 2 of Film Frenzy has expanded significantly, receiving more than 100 film submissions from India and abroad. Around 60 films have been officially selected for screening at the iconic Radha Studio in Tollygunge.
Curated by Payal Mishra Films, Supermom Authoralak Films and Cinema for A Cause, Film Frenzy celebrates the diverse and independent voices of filmmakers across genders. The festival aims to provide a platform for authentic, rooted and diverse narratives while encouraging greater visibility, dialogue and recognition for impactful content in regional, national and international cinema.
The first edition in 2025 created a strong sense of community among filmmakers and audiences. Beyond film screenings, the festival focused on personal interaction, networking and meaningful conversations, offering participating filmmakers an experience that went beyond a conventional film festival.
The festival is being led by a dynamic team comprising Festival Director Sanjay Mishra, filmmaker and actor-director and grandson of legendary film director Sushil Majumdar; Festival Programme Director Alakananda Pramanik, author, storyteller, producer and actor, popularly known as Supermom; and Festival Creative Head Abhishek Ganguly, an independent filmmaker and experienced creative professional with nearly three decades of experience.
Season 2 introduces several new categories, including Animals & Pets, Music Videos and Shorts, alongside its core film categories. The selected submissions represent a wide range of genres and themes, including drama, psychological drama, socially relevant stories, comedy, horror, wildlife and animal welfare, fiction and non-fiction, motivational stories, mystery, thriller, suspense, patriotic and historical themes, as well as AI and data science.
Film Frenzy 2026 will feature approximately 17 nomination categories and around 81 nominations, along with exclusive trophies for winners, special appreciation awards for promising filmmakers, screenings of officially selected films and a grand award night at The Saturday Club, Kolkata.
