Kolkata, November 3, 2026: King’s Sports Management has announced Brazilian football legend Douglas Maicon as its Official Brand Ambassador, marking a significant step towards strengthening Indian football and nurturing young talent through international expertise.

The announcement followed a landmark press conference attended by representatives from around 35 leading media houses. The partnership aims to bring Brazil’s renowned youth football development model to India and establish an ambitious initiative, ‘Mission 2037’, with the objective of preparing Indian footballers for opportunities in top European leagues.

Maicon is scheduled to visit Kolkata on November 14, 2026, for a special launch event at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre on the occasion of Children’s Day. The initiative seeks to combine Brazil’s rich footballing culture with India’s emerging talent pool by creating structured pathways for identifying, training and promoting promising young players.

Speaking about the vision, Avishek Sengupta, Managing Director of King’s Sports Management, said, “We are bringing Maicon to develop Indian football by copying what Brazil is doing with its youth players.”

Alongside grassroots football development, the organisation will introduce a Diploma in Sports Business and Player Representation, aimed at strengthening professional education and developing expertise in the sports management sector.

Explaining the educational initiative, Saswata Ghosh, Chief Operating Officer, said that the objective behind bringing Maicon was also to establish a specialised educational programme and launch the diploma in his presence.

Highlighting the challenges facing Indian football, Ayush Chakraborty, Chief Financial Officer, pointed to inadequate infrastructure and prevailing mindsets as major obstacles to the growth of Indian players.

Through Mission 2037, King’s Sports Management aims to address these challenges by developing better training structures, providing professional career guidance and creating international exposure for emerging footballers.

The organisation also plans to connect talented Indian players with leading clubs in India and overseas, building a sustainable ecosystem that supports their professional growth.

With the involvement of an internationally renowned football personality and the introduction of specialised sports education, King’s Sports Management seeks to contribute to a new chapter in Indian football, with the long-term ambition of placing Indian players on the European football stage by 2037.
