The daily journey for commuters using Bally Halt Railway Station is set to become safer, more comfortable and more convenient. The Sealdah Division has completed the important work of raising the platforms at the station, while also undertaking several developmental initiatives aimed at improving passenger amenities and services.
Previously, the considerable difference in height between the platform and train coaches caused inconvenience to passengers while boarding and alighting from trains. The problem was particularly challenging for senior citizens, children and women passengers. With the platforms now raised in accordance with prescribed standards, passengers will be able to board and alight from trains with greater safety, ease and comfort.
Along with raising the platforms, the Sealdah Division has undertaken several works at Bally Halt Station to further improve passenger amenities:
On Platform No. 2, along with the platform-raising work, the platform has been widened by 2 metres.
On Platform No. 1, a 3-metre-wide raised platform section has been constructed, facilitating smoother and more convenient passenger movement.
Several works aimed at further enhancing passenger services at the station are currently in progress and are expected to be completed shortly:
Tile and Kota stone work is underway to enhance the aesthetics, durability and overall passenger experience of the platforms.
Water booths have been provided for passenger convenience.
A toilet complex has been provided on Platform No. 2, thereby strengthening essential basic amenities for passengers.
A total of 20 seating benches have been provided across Platforms No. 1 and 2, enabling passengers to wait for trains in greater comfort.
Apart from Bally Halt, platform-raising work is progressing at a rapid pace on a priority basis at approximately 20 stations across the Sealdah Division, with particular emphasis on passenger safety and convenience. The principal objective of these works is to minimise the height difference between platforms and train coaches and make the process of boarding and alighting safer and easier for passengers. The ongoing works are expected to be completed shortly, enabling passengers at the concerned stations to board and alight from trains in a safer and more convenient manner.
With the objective of facilitating smoother passenger movement, ensuring safe access to stations and reducing the need for passengers to cross railway tracks, a total of 50 Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) have been sanctioned across the Sealdah Division, including provision for Bally Halt Station.
The developmental works currently being undertaken at Bally Halt Station and other stations reflect the Sealdah Division’s sustained efforts towards strengthening suburban railway infrastructure and ensuring safer, more comfortable and passenger-friendly services. Keeping the requirements of daily commuters in mind, the Division is regularly undertaking such initiatives to make stations safer, cleaner, more accessible and more convenient, thereby ensuring an improved travel experience for passengers across all sections of society.
