Kolkata, November 3, 2026: The makers of the upcoming Bengali thriller Nazarbandi, directed by Debarati Bhowmick, unveiled the film’s much-awaited song ‘Ikir Mikir’ at a special launch event held at Monkey Bar, Park Street, Kolkata, on Tuesday evening. The event was presented by Kathavinyaas Media and Armaan Ventures (Shaista Ali) as part of the film’s promotional campaign.
Starring Rituparna Sengupta, Paayel Sarkar, Madhumita Sarcar, Rajnandini Paul and Darshana Banik, Nazarbandi has generated considerable interest for its unconventional storyline and all-women ensemble.
Rituparna Sengupta portrays Anamika Sengupta, a wealthy and talented painter whose life becomes entangled in a complex web of cybercrime, online fraud, deception and emotional relationships. The film explores the darker dimensions of the digital world through a suspense-driven narrative.
One of the most distinctive features of Nazarbandi is its all-female cast, with no male characters in the film. From those involved in criminal activities to victims and investigators, the central characters are exclusively women. Director Debarati Bhowmick has adopted this unconventional storytelling approach to explore the complexities of human relationships and crime from a different perspective.
A major portion of the film was shot in the picturesque surroundings of Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, offering a striking natural backdrop to the thriller. The film also features veteran actress Laboni Sarkar, Chandrayee Ghosh and Debleena Kumar in significant roles.
Speaking about the film, Rituparna Sengupta has described its all-women concept as particularly interesting and different from her previous projects. She plays a painter in the film and believes that the complexity of female characters offers considerable scope for nuanced performances.
Produced by Kathavinyaas Media LLP, the film is directed by Debarati Bhowmick and will be distributed by SSR Cinemas. The production is presented by Kathavinyaas Media and Armaan Ventures (Shaista Ali).
With the launch of ‘Ikir Mikir’, the promotional campaign has gained fresh momentum. Combining a cybercrime-based storyline, suspense and an exclusively female ensemble, Nazarbandi is expected to offer Bengali cinema audiences a distinctive thriller experience.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 19, 2026.
