Kolkata, 30 August 2026: On the auspicious occasion of Sri Sri Krishna Janmashtami, ISKCON Newtown enthusiastically organized a special ‘Run for Krishna’ Marathon today.
Approximately 800 participants took part in the event across three categories—10 km, 5 km, and 3 km.
The 10 km run commenced at 6:00 AM, while the 5 km run began at 6:15 AM.
Apart from Kolkata and its surrounding areas, many people participated in this special marathon from different districts and distant regions of North Bengal. According to the registration list, two participants had registered from Darjeeling, and many people from various districts of North Bengal had travelled to take part in the marathon.
The Guest of Honour for the occasion was Ms. Shruti Singh, Hon’ble Civil Judge, Jhargram Judges’ Court.
Why ‘Run for Krishna’?
Throughout our lives, throughout the year, and every day, we constantly run after our own desires, greed, attachments, self-interest, and sense gratification. But the question is—why not dedicate at least one day of the year to running for Lord Sri Krishna?

The spontaneous participation, joy, and enthusiasm of such a large number of people truly made this initiative a memorable one.
