Spring Unfolds in Colors and Clicks at Shobhabazar Rajbari with “Amra Chitrapremi”
The grandeur of North Kolkata’s historic Shobhabazar Rajbari turned into a vibrant canvas of colors, creativity, and celebration as “Amra Chitrapremi” Photography Club welcomed spring with an extraordinary festival last Sunday. The event brought together photography enthusiasts, artists, and cultural performers in a spectacular fusion of tradition, heritage, and artistic expression.
The festival kicked off with a lamp-lighting ceremony, graced by notable personalities such as Subrata Banerjee (Head Priest of Ward No. 10), Mohan Gupta (Manada), Mrs. Universe 2019 Apsara Guha Thakurta, Pandit Mallar Ghosh, poet and orator Mallika Ghosh, Fuji Film Ambassador and Godox Mentor Argha Chatterjee, and Piyali Chatterjee. The occasion was further enriched by the presence of prominent figures, including Rajiv Mukherjee, Anuja Mukherjee, Raja Mukherjee, Paramita Bose, Gargi Gupta, Sanjay Pal, Stanley Dutta, Shyam Sundar Das, Surjit Sarkar (Mama), Moumita Banerjee, Ankan Banerjee, Priya Sen, Mala Roy, Suman Sardar, Chandika Kirtonia, Sanjay Bhattacharya, Rohit Saha, Rupankar Roy, Glamour X India CEO Piyush Sarkar, Dipanvita Kaur, Saikat, Sharmistha Ghosh, Bangladeshi model Yami Nusrat, Piyal Roychowdhury, and actress-model Madhumita Gupta.
Although Dr. Shashi Panja, Minister for Women’s Welfare, could not attend due to official commitments, she sent a heartfelt message, delivered by Purpita Subrata Banerjee, extending her best wishes and commending “Amra Chitrapremi” for their beautiful initiative.
A Tribute to Heritage and Art
The event beautifully merged the rich cultural past of Shobhabazar Rajbari with modern artistic expressions. Argha Chatterjee, attending for the first time, described the festival as “a unique experience” and praised its execution. Mohan Gupta (Manada) reflected on the historical significance of the venue, recalling that Swami Vivekananda was felicitated here upon his return from Chicago. He emphasized how art, tradition, and human connection make such celebrations truly special.
Music, Dance, and Cultural Splendor
The festival was not just about photography—it was a cultural extravaganza. The event opened with the soulful song ‘Sur Tal Chand’, followed by mesmerizing musical performances. A special moment of the evening was the graceful dance performance of ‘Ore Grihabasi Khol Dwar Khol’ by young Adyashri Chatterjee, which left the audience spellbound. Sanchita Mukherjee’s soulful melodies added to the emotional depth of the evening.
Competitions, Celebrations, and Stunning Photography
Adding an extra layer of excitement, the festival featured Krishna Saja competitions, beauty contests, and quizzes, organized by Iconic, News Bengal Online, and BK News, with prizes awarded to enthusiastic participants.
Throughout the day, the Rajbari’s majestic courtyards, grand arches, and historic theaters provided a stunning backdrop for the photographers capturing creative portraits of models in various styles and moods. As twilight set in, the play of lights and camera flashes transformed the venue into a magical realm, encapsulating the true essence of spring.
With art, history, and photography intertwined, “Amra Chitrapremi” successfully created a celebration to remember, making this spring festival a cherished moment for all art and photography lovers.
