Open District Championship 24-25 Celebrates Strength, Art, and Fitness in Bangur

The Open District Iron Lifting, Arm Fighting, Yoga, Dance, and Body Building Championship 24-25 was successfully held on July 20 at Bangur Kalkakoli Mukto Manch, drawing over a hundred spirited participants from eight districts across West Bengal.

Organized jointly by the West Bengal Iron Lifting Association and Ashok Akhara Ek Byayam Mandir, the day-long event turned into a vibrant celebration of fitness, discipline, and artistry. Competitors hailed not only from Kolkata but also from North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Burdwan, Nadia, and Medinipur, showcasing diverse talent across all categories.

The most coveted “Champion of Champions” titles were awarded to Pratik Mondal, Arpan Pal, and Shuvra Sampui for their outstanding performance. Emerald Fitness Studio (Tollygunge) clinched the Team Champion title, while Welcome Gym (Dum Dum Airport) and Manohar Aich Gym secured the Runner-up and 1st Runner-up positions respectively.

Adding glamour and credibility to the event were notable guests and judges, including:

• Partha Chanda, 5-time National Bodybuilding Champion

• Gopal Debnath, President of the organizing body and veteran journalist

• Pritha Chanda, acclaimed figure in the world of dance

• Nandan Debnath and Shweta Dubey, national and international wrestling referees

The event’s smooth execution was made possible by the efforts of Amisharaj, Gaurang Chakraborty, Maheshwari, Ayesharaj, Saujanya Dhar, and Sukumar Das, who anchored the championship with professionalism and energy.

A special moment that touched everyone’s hearts was the appearance of 5-year-old Amarraj, who stole the show in the body display segment by confidently walking the stage in jeans — a symbol of the event’s inclusive and inspiring spirit.

At the conclusion, Ashokraj — veteran actor of Bollywood and Tollywood, renowned bodybuilder, and the head of the organizing committee — extended heartfelt thanks to all participants, guests, and supporters for making the championship a grand success.

The event not only celebrated physical strength but also highlighted the growing community of fitness and performing arts in Bengal.
