Cheers echoed across Northern Park as wrestling mats turned into battlefields of strength, skill, and sportsmanship during the World Wrestling Day celebrations organized by the West Bengal Wrestling Association.
In an electrifying showcase of talent, nearly 100 wrestlers from different corners of the city, district, and state competed with passion and pride. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as young and seasoned wrestlers locked horns in thrilling bouts, captivating spectators and dignitaries alike.
What made the day even more special was the presence of distinguished international guests. His Excellency Ganbold Dambajav, the Hon. Ambassador of Mongolia to India, honored the event as Chief Guest, while Maxim V. Kozlov, Consul General of Russia in Kolkata, joined as the Guest of Honour. Their presence highlighted the global spirit of wrestling and the bonds it fosters beyond borders.
The event also welcomed respected names such as Pradip Khemka, G. Dalmiya, and several other notable guests. Wrestling Federation of India Vice-President Ashit Saha, WB Wrestling Association President Gautam Ghosh, and Rotary Club of Kasba President Asish Basak were among the key figures adding prestige to the occasion.
Amid applause, trophies, and moments of intense sportsmanship, World Wrestling Day in Kolkata became more than a celebration—it became a statement. A statement that wrestling is not just a sport, but a powerful expression of discipline, heritage, and international unity.
