World Population Day 2025 celebrated by DFW and FPAI-Kolkata

World Population Day 2025 was celebrated on July 14, 2025, at the premises of the District Family Welfare Office located at AJC Basu Road, Kolkata. The event was jointly organized by the District Family Welfare Bureau (DFW) under the Department of Health and Family Welfare and the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Kolkata Branch.

The main message of this year’s World Population Day was – “When the body and mind are ready, then is the age to become a mother.” Through this message, an appeal has been made to make people aware of the importance of public health, family planning and reproductive health.

The event began with an awareness rally, which started from the office of the District Family Welfare Office and ended at Ramlila Maidan. This was followed by a panel discussion, where eminent doctors, health workers and social workers spoke. Health educational sessions were held for adolescents, and informational leaflets and necessary health supplies were distributed among the participants.

The event was attended by Dr. Partha Dey, ADHS & DFWO, Madam DPHNO, DFW, and FPAI Kolkata Branch Manager, Shri Supratip Mazumdar. Their valuable remarks and guidance made the event a success.

More than 80 people participated in the event. Among them were students from various schools, members of youth organizations, health workers and social workers. They all agreed on the importance of family planning and the need for population control in the society. According to the organizers, family planning is not just a health awareness issue, it is a fundamental human right, the practice of which is the duty of every conscious citizen.

Through this event, the organizing organizations reiterated their commitment to building a healthy, conscious and responsible society.
