NIF Global Saltlake (previously NIFD Global) has been a leading institution for education in fashion and interior design. Recognized as the Platinum Centre in India, it exemplifies professional excellence, practical training, and global exposure. NIF Global Saltlake delivers curriculum under the leadership of qualified and experienced faculty, and prepares students to establish themselves as creative professionals. The campus offers degree programs, including B.Voc, B.Des, M.Voc, and a 2-Year Certification program in Fashion and Interior Designing, gearing students for the competitive design field. The Institute provides a lifetime placement opportunity for all students and graduates so they can develop their careers and work in the industry.
This September, the institute proudly embraced Bengal’s most revered and vibrant celebration—Durga Puja. The campus, adorned in festive hues of red, gold, and orange, radiated a spirit of cultural grandeur while upholding its ethos of sustainability. All décor was thoughtfully crafted from recycled and repurposed materials, celebrating tradition with responsibility.
As part of these festivities, NIF Global Saltlake presented “AGOMONI 2025”—a pre-Puja fashion showcased by the students of the Fashion Design Department—on 18th September 2025 from 2 PM onwards on campus. Every garment, from concept sketch to finished ensemble, was designed and executed by students, seamlessly blending national trends with international standards in garment construction, ornamentation, and presentation.
Moreover, present in the show were celebs like Avishek Naiya, the renowned fashion designer in Kolkata and Ms. Debolina Dutta, a well-known Tollywood celebrity as chief guest. Additionally, there was Ms. Ekaterina Tyurina, the Vice-Consul of Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata.
The show unfolded through four thematic sequences, each celebrating the spirit of Durga’s homecoming and the cultural vibrancy of the festival:
- Parineeta–Hand-printed sarees paired with contemporary blouses, alongside men’s kurta-dhoti sets, embodied the warmth of celebration. The palette of beige, red, and gold evoked both elegance and festivity, showcasing masterful artistry. Each ensemble bloomed like a verse of poetry, where threads carried whispers of heritage. Draped in radiance, they moved as living testaments to festivity reborn with contemporary grace.
- Face it–Inspired by faces, moods, and emotions, quirk blossomed into garments that became living canvases. On subtle shades of grey as the base, multihued hand embroidery unfolded like delicate light upon shadow, each stitch a blink, each motif a whisper of individuality. Threads of originality ignited quiet fabrics with brilliance, turning creativity into radiance. In their union, emotion was not merely worn but felt, luminous in every detail.
- The Garden of Matisse-Drawing from Matisse’s art, this sequence reimagined ethnic wear as moving canvases—fluid kurtas, flared pants, hand-printing, and intricate embroidery unfurled like brushstrokes in motion. Rust, sage green, mustard, and peach composed a fresh congruence, unifying Indian aesthetics with western flair. Each silhouette danced with the rhythm of color and form, blurring boundaries between garment and artwork. In their flow, tradition was not only adorned but dreamt anew.
- Waqar—Reimagining of heritage and resilience unfurls, where tradition is not merely preserved but reborn. Opulent lehengas, inventive blouses, and fluid fusion menswear personify timeless craftsmanship, sculpted anew in modern silhouettes. Ethnic in soul yet daring in form, each garment pushes boundaries through innovative structures. Paying homage to India’s storied textiles—Bandhani, Ajrakh, Kalamkari, and Benarasi—the collection becomes a tapestry where ancestral artistry meets contemporary vision. Draped in a striking palette of onyx black, oxblood maroon, and heritage hues, the collection composes a bold symphony—an unbroken dialogue between memory and modernity, legacy and invention.
Complementing the fashion sequences, students also performed cultural acts of dance and music. A specially curated dance drama underscored the timeless message that, just as Maa Durga embodies strength and resilience, every individual, irrespective of gender, caste, or background, carries their own inner power.
With AGOMONI 2025, NIF Global Saltlake once again reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing creativity, skill, and cultural consciousness, empowering its students to craft design with purpose, responsibility, and global relevance.
