Massive Protest March to Nabanna: Teachers, Job Seekers and Citizens Join Forces

Defying rain and police barricades, thousands marched toward Nabanna today demanding justice in government recruitment and transparency in administration. The protest saw participation from teachers, job seekers, and concerned citizens under the banner of three major platforms — Bangchito Chakriprarthi-Chakrijibi O Chakrihara Aikya Mancha, Sangrami Yojtha Mancha, and the Paschim Banga Ganatantrik Nagarik Mancha (PBGNM).

Aditya Dutta, student leader and one of PBGNM’s conveners, declared, “This is more than a protest—it’s a collective voice against systemic injustice.”

Subhajit Duttagupta, editor of We Are The Common People, noted writer, and a key convener of PBGNM, added, “This government thrives on corruption while silencing the victims. Today, the streets spoke louder.”

Educators like Bhaskar Ghosh, civic activists like Amlan Bhattacharya (UCL Bengal convenor) and writer Kazi Masum Akhtar, a PBGNM supporter, also addressed the gathering, vowing to continue the movement unless the Chief Minister responds in writing.

Placards reading “Jobs, not Charity!” filled the streets as drenched demonstrators refused to back down. The message was clear: this was not just a protest—it was a united demand for dignity and accountability.
