
BSF Wives Welfare Association celebrated Holi and Women’s Day with affection and gaiety
On 12 March 2025, a splendid programme was organized at the Battalion Headquarter of 102 Battalion BSF, Kalyani, on the auspicious occasion of Holi and International Women’s Day.
The event was held under the chairmanship of Smt. Prema Gandhi, President of BSF Wives Welfare Association, Eastern Command. Smt. Nirmal Kanwar, President of BSF Wives Welfare Association, South Bengal Frontier, was also present, adding grace to the occasion.
The programme started with the sweet confluence of lamp lighting and a welcome song, which filled the atmosphere with energy, gaiety and positivity.
After this, a colorful cultural programme was organized, in which the women and children of the BSF family gave captivating performances which included patriotic and Holi songs. Their zeal and enthusiasm enthralled the audience and it continued till the end. In the programme, everyone wished each other with colorful flowers and gulal.
BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA) is a non-profit organization whose main objective is to empower the wives and children of BSF personnel. The organization is continuously working in the areas of skill development, quality education of children, women empowerment, career counseling and health awareness. Apart from this, the organization also organizes special programmes for housing, rehabilitation, mental and emotional support for the families of martyred personnel.
During the function, Chief Guest Smt. Prema Gandhi shared her insights on women’s empowerment and highlighted the vital role women play in shaping the society. She praised the courage, loyalty, and sacrifice of the women of BSF family, acknowledging that they are not only bringing pride to their own families but also to the entire nation. Smt. Gandhi shared information about various programmes and schemes aimed at women’s empowerment, encouraging the women of BSF family to become self-reliant and empowered.
At the end of the programme, all the members of BSF Wives Welfare Association and their families spread sweetness of love by feeding sweets to each other and shared love and enthusiasm by smearing each other with colours.
More than 200 members and their families were present in this programme, full of joy and happiness. The programme was organised with great dignity and enthusiasm, and its success in giving a strong message of women empowerment, social participation, mutual love and unity, helped in giving meaning to both the event and the festival.
