‘BELGHORIA TOUCH’ NGO officials awarded as “WOMEN EMPOWERMENT ICONS” by ‘LIONS Club Of Kolkata MAGNATES’

On 11th May eve at Kalakunj, BELGHORIA TOUCH, a popular NGO, had organized a Grand Felicitation Ceremony for MOTHERS of significant Achievers from various sectors of society.
About 150 people from all walks of life graced the occasion, along with several eminent Tolly celebs and a host of dignitaries.

The top officials of BELGHORIA TOUCH – Srabani Bagchi (President), Sandipa Nandy (Secretary) and Anupa Nandy (Jt. Secy.) were felicitated by LIONS CLUB OF KOLKATA MAGNATES for their outstanding work on Women Empowerment.

LION MAGNATE Sangita Das, singer Pranati Saha, WB Wrestling Association Secretary Sovan Chakraborty, reciter Oindrila Chatterjee, poet Jharna Bhattacharjee and social influencer LION President Asish Basak, along with clinical nutritionist Arunava Nandi, handed over the prestigious LIONS MAGNATES AWARDS to the three winners.

LIONS MAGNATES officials also expressed keen interest to work in various projects like Healthcare and Vocational Training with BELGHORIA TOUCH.

About Belghoria Touch:    It is a non-profit organisation,  formed in 2014 by a group of like-minded individuals who aim to uplift the life of distressed people and thereby ensure holistic development of the society. They focussed on work primarily in Sundarban areas as aid during natural disaster and to provide sustainable livelihood, health and hygiene, child education, women empowerment, cultural preservation, etc.

Their Mission —

To teach the values of life like cleanliness, culture, discipline and integrity.
To educate people about the benefits of health awareness and hygiene.
To provide medical support and organize the health camps in remote areas.

 Vision of BELGHORIA TOUCH —
We are planning to build a multi-specialty Health clinic in Jharkhali Area to cater to the ‘quick response needs of medical emergencies.
We surveyed various areas of Jharkhali and understood that there is an urgent need to build a health clinic with a round-the-clock ‘doctor available for Emergency Response. The lack of medicine should also be replenished regularly at discounted prices.

Their Activities:-
Heath Camps (Pashe Achhi) — ‘Belghoria Touch’ organised a series of medical camps called ‘Pashe Achi’ where they arranged free health check ups, eye camp, blood donation, etc.

Between the year 2014 to 2020, ‘Belghoria Touch’ covered more than 20000+ patients. While in a pre-Covid situation, they covered 10+ critical patients with emergency medical treatment in different hospitals in Kolkata. ‘Belghoria Touch’ also started a health camp named ‘Shere Otho Sundarban’, where they distributed Covid relief packs with food items and medical accessories, masks, etc.

Health & Hygiene (Sanjibani) — As a part of health and hygiene, ‘Belghoria Touch’ distributed 10000+ sanitary napkins in various villages of Sundarban. Also organized free health check-ups and awareness camp for 50+ autistic children in collaboration with ‘ Disha Rehabilitation Center’. In 2022, ‘Belghoria Touch’ started a new health & hygiene awareness program called ‘Ongikar’.

Women Empowerment (Shoktirupeno) —  During the period of Covid-19, the members of ‘Belghoria Touch’ witnessed a lot of migrant workers influx into Sundarban. This evidently put pressure on the economical situation of the families in various villages. To provide sustainable livelihood, they choose the path of empowering women. ‘Belghoria Touch’ trained and organized various self-help groups in various skill development areas such as pickle making, zari work, making incense sticks and sanitary pads, etc.

Child Education (Shoisob) —  ‘Belghoria Touch’ also distributed books among 1000+ children as a venture of child education. We are also going to arrange free tuition classes for them to improve their marks

Support for Differently Abled Person (Sahara) —
‘Belghoria Touch’ distributed wheelchairs to 100+ physically disabled patients. The NGO also worked on developing the social status of disabled people by providing them training.

Nutrition (Pushti)  — BELGHORIA TOUCH had worked towards child health selflessly, especially to nourish the helpless underprivileged children suffering from harmful disorders like malnutrition due to ignorance, poverty and undernourishment.

Cultural Activities (Parboni) — To preserve culture, BELGHORIA TOUCH distributed musical instruments to the music and dance group ‘Jhumur’.  This initiative was supported and appreciated in the platform of ‘Dadagiri’ by the great icon Sourav Ganguly.

Water Treatment Plant (Sparsham Aqua) — To cope with the increasing concerns about Sundarban’s water scarcity, BELGHORIA TOUCH had already built a water treatment plant and the water distributed in various villages of Basanti block. BELGHORIA TOUCH already secured 400 families through  purifying water.

Pujo Program (Devi Paksha) — Every year, BELGHORIA TOUCH organizes a special cloth distribution program for children just before Durga puja. They also took 200+ children to Kolkata visit in Durga Puja and provided them breakfast and lunch.

Disaster Management (Angikaar)– Natural calamities such as earthquakes, floods and man-made disasters happen accidentally and BELGHORIA TOUCH send relief to the victims.

Natural disasters come all of a sudden and destroy regular lives. BELGHORIA TOUCH aims to grant relief and assistance to the needy victims during natural calamities and to give donations and other assistance to re-establishment, re-building and manage the devastation.
