Dum Dum Nakashatra Welfare Society: Transforming Lives Through Social ServiceDum Dum, Kolkata: Established in 2018, Dum Dum Nakashatra Welfare Society is a well-known NGO dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged communities through child education, healthcare, adult literacy, women’s empowerment and support for paediatric cancer patients.
Speaking about the organisation, Founder and President Alok Sarkar and Secretary Abhik Pal shared that the NGO has undertaken more than 300 social welfare activities since its inception, reaching out to disadvantaged children, women and families in need.The organisation primarily sustains its activities through annual membership subscriptions and contributions from well-wishers. They holding 12A and 80G and CSR-1 registration, maintaining annual audits and filing income tax returns, With a committed team of 26 members, the Society now aims to expand its outreach and support more than 400 underprivileged children through educational assistance and medical awareness programmes. It also plans to strengthen adult literacy initiatives and promote women’s livelihood opportunities through vocational training, including tailoring and beautician courses.The organisation hopes that greater support from corporate houses, donors and socially responsible citizens will help it expand its initiatives and bring meaningful, lasting change to the lives of those who need it most.
